"He had survived, now fifteen, strong and capable. He helped around town and had found a dream of his own. What was unexpected was that the Son could not remember his own mother. The realisation left her devastated.
He survived, but at what cost?

Night came and she laid down on, what was once, her bed - now but a dusty mattress on a rotten, broken wooden bed structure remained. She couldn't bring herself to cry. Everything seemed so fresh, almost as if only a couple of days had passed; it was impossible to believe. Then the Woman came to realise that throughout her journey, she did not find the Witch."
